Having your hard drives destroyed - How does that work?

Have your hard drives destroyed in five simple steps. We ensure a secure, certified and transparent process with minimal burden for your organisation.

In the first step, we collect your hard drives and data carriers from your location.

In the second step, your data is continuously secured at our site in Boxtel, with 24-hour camera surveillance and alarm security.

In the third step, we register all your hard drives based on serial number, brand name and capacity.

The fourth step is the actual destruction: your hard drives are shredded in accordance with DIN66399 3:H5.

In the fifth and final step, you receive a GDPR-compliant destruction statement, supplemented with the serial numbers of all destroyed data carriers.

Corporate social responsibility

A sustainable approach is central to Holland Recycling. Not only the processing itself is important here, but especially the way we do it. Because the refurbishment process for IT hardware lends itself particularly well to employing people with a distance to the labour market, we have a wonderfully mixed team. As a member of CSR initiative AANtWERK, we work daily towards inclusive business practices. Want to know more about our social approach? Check out our page about sustainability and CSR.

Secure and certified hard drive destruction

Do you have old hard drives you want to dispose of? Even after formatting, confidential company data remains retrievable on a drive. Professional destruction is the only adequate solution. We destroy your old HDD and SSD drives of all brands: Samsung, Seagate, Hitachi, WD and more.

You’d better not disable a hard drive yourself. Breaking a hard drive is easily done, but even then hackers can still access your data. Did you know data recovery is still possible even when hard drives are severely damaged or have been submerged in water for a long time? So: have your hard drives destroyed by Holland Recycling. Hard drives are destroyed both mechanically and via software for extra security. Afterwards, you receive a certificate with a registration of the hard drives: the number of units, capacity, dimensions, brands and serial numbers.

Hard drive destruction in accordance with GDPR guidelines

Holland Recycling offers certified destruction for hard drives, floppy disks, USB sticks, phones and data tapes. Customers always receive a destruction statement stating at minimum the number of data carriers. An additional registration of various data, such as the serial number, is possible. With our registration, you can demonstrate during any audit that you had your data destroyed professionally.

Holland Recycling always destroys in accordance with DIN66399 protection class 3, security level H5. This is the European standard for the entire process of shredding or destroying all types of data carriers. Protection class 3 stands for very high protection, and H5 describes the destruction of hard drives with a maximum shred size of 320 mm². This way, your organisation demonstrably meets the strictest requirements in the field of information security and GDPR legislation.

What our clients say:

What does hard drive destruction cost?

The cost of certified hard drive destruction depends on the number of hard drives you want destroyed. For larger batches, we can offer more attractive rates. Get in touch with one of our staff members, and we’re happy to inform you about the costs and options.

Do you also supply complete IT hardware alongside hard drives? Then we combine the data destruction with the buyback or recycling of your equipment. This way, you receive an all-in-one solution where the proceeds from usable hardware can offset the cost of data destruction.

As a business or institution, you are responsible for the data on the data carriers you dispose of. Holland Recycling takes over this responsibility. We destroy in accordance with DIN66399 3:H5.

This depends on the quantity. If you also supply the equipment, we will remove the data carriers to register and destroy them. As a rule, you always receive the certificates, including the additional registrations, from us within 2 weeks.

You can trade in, sell or recycle old hard drives. At Holland Recycling, we can destroy old hard disks for institutions and businesses using our industrial shredder. The hard drives are ground down into minuscule pieces, so no one can access your confidential data anymore.

Hard drives are destroyed using our DIN66399 3:H5 certified shredder.

In both cases, your data is 100% destroyed. The advantage of wiping hard drives is that they retain their usability. If the hard disks are too old, wiping is not advisable. Emptying a hard drive takes a very long time, as it is overwritten completely multiple times.

You can destroy a hard drive with a hammer, a drill, or by submerging it in water, for example, but this is strongly discouraged when it holds privacy-sensitive data. Even with water damage and physical damage, the data can often still be recovered. Leave the shredding to Holland Recycling. We have certified shredders that guarantee your company data can never be recovered again.
